Mount Lofty House in the Adelaide Hills would have to be one of the first venue choices of any Adelaide bride, it has a perfect storm of great location, views, history, architecture, grounds, food, service, accommodation on site and one of the friendliest coordinators around, Michelle Buckley, who I spoke to for this profile.

NP: Hi Michelle, can you tell us about Mount Lofty House, how long have you been holding weddings and how many weddings do you hold per year?

MB: Mount Lofty House is an iconic venue in the Adelaide Hills, hosting wedding and social events for over 160 years. Currently we welcome approximately 120 couples to our house.

NP: Why should a couple consider your venue over other venues?

MB: Every Mount Lofty House wedding reception is unique. Originally built by Arthur Hardy in 1852 as his Summer residence, Mount Lofty House was the celebration destination for the pinnacle of high society at the time. Today more than 160 years later the tradition lives on. Here at Mount Lofty House we tailor everything to make a couples dream day a reality.

Our venue, catering and team here highlight the amazing venue, bringing the gardens and the spectacular view into your guests experience. We have been recognized as the premier wedding venue in South Australia by the Australian Bridal Industry Awards where we were named best hotel wedding reception venue in South Australia 2016 and best 1st night honeymoon venue in 2017.

NP: What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you?

MB: Brides will usually inquire on venue hire fee and if they are able to have both ceremony and reception at Mount Lofty House

NP: What size functions can you hold/host?

MB: We are able to host 200 guests seated and 300+ cocktail

NP: Can couples bring in their own caterer? What about alcohol?

MB: We have amazing access to local produce and worldwide wines, couples are able to select from our broad selections. Our executive chef is more than happy to work with a couple on customizing a menu to suit their individual requirements.

NP: Can the ceremony be held at your venue?

MB: Yes, we have three ceremony locations all equally as beautiful as each other.

NP: Are the couple free to decorate as they like?

MB: Yes, the wedding team always love to see the unique styles and theming that a couple will bring to our venue. We also have an extensive suppliers list to assist with the planning.

NP: Do you have a contingency for bad weather?

MB: Absolutely, we will always offer a couple the comfort of knowing that is in the event of less than desirable weather we will always have a backup space.

NP: Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?

MB: Venue hire fees are seasonal and we do encourage potential couples to give us a ring and chat with us about their special day.

NP: How early do couples need to book you?

MB: We are currently booking weddings for early to mid-2019 so approximately 15-18 months

NP: What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?

MB: Guest are able to utilise the reception space until midnight, however if they are waiting a nightcap our Arthur Waterhouse Lounge and Bar can continue service on request.

NP: Do you offer accommodation options?

MB: We have 30 in house accommodation rooms along with 4 self-contained cottages. Bride and Groom do receive a complimentary night in our Bridal Suite with wine and chocolates on arrival, breakfast the following morning and late check out.

NP: What other (if any) wedding services do you offer?

MB: Our Stables Day Sap offers 3 treatments rooms and packages for the perfect lead up to your wedding.
