New York Wedding Blog: Wedding Venues

Tell us about your venue. How long have you been holding weddings and how many weddings do you hold per year?

50 Bowery opened in May 2017 and hosted a tented wedding of 150 people (with subsequent hotel block) our very first week. We hosted five wedding of various sizes and themes in our first year. From large tented ceremonies, to intimate and traditional Chinese tea ceremonies as well as last minute indoor ceremonies our flexibility and unique spaces have really helped couples carry out their vision.

Why should a couple consider your venue over other venues?

It is hard to find outdoor spaces in NYC – our 5000 square foot outdoor garden can be easily tented and  makes for such a dramatic wedding venue with the Manhattan  Bridge in full view. Plus all of our catering is by Executive Chef Dale Talde of Three Kings Restaurant Group – the food is anything but typical catering fare.

What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you?

Brides usually ask about our Rooftop Bar first and foremost.  That seems to be the biggest draw from our website. Once they come tour us and see the second floor garden and gallery they tend to  shift focus to that space. Also most wedding groups ask about the room block and we make sure that it is super easy to book, affordable for the season and customized to the needs of the extended bridal party and visitors. We typically host at least one wedding group a weekend and are quite adept at keeping everyone happy.

What size functions can you hold/host?

We can accommodate up to 150 tented in our Garden. Inside our Gallery can accommodate a ceremony of up to 70.

If relevant, can couples bring in their own caterer? What about alcohol?

All of our catering is exclusively by Executive Chef Dale Talde of Three Kings Restaurant Group – and alcohol service is strictly provided by us.

Can the ceremony be held at your venue?

Ceremonys are actually the main events at our hotel. We find the ceremony and a cocktail hour tent to be the main drawer; then the bridal party moves offsite to one of the larger venues in our extended Lower East Side/Chinatown or even downtown Brooklyn.

Are the couple free to decorate as they like?

Yes we have some AMAZING experiences with florists that decorated everything from an enchanted garden theme, a complete suite takeover and encourage couples  that our space  is truly theirs to decorate.

If your venue is outdoors is there a backup space in case of rain?

Our garden is available to be tented and we offer a few vendor connections depending on the budget of the couple.

Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?

Menu pricing starts at $100 per person for receptions

Tent pricing starts at $10,000

Indoor pricing for small ceremonies in our Gallery starts in the $2500 range for a half-day or evening

Bridal Suites average $750

How early do couples need to book you?

Our wedding events tend to book 3-6 months in advance but as a hotel we are used to last minute queries. Last year we hosted a ceremony that had been displaced with only one week notice!

What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?

Our events on the second floor tend to be daytime or early evening and end by 10pm.

Do you offer accommodation options?

Yes our hotel has 229 rooms and suites with a variety of bed types.

What other (if any) wedding services do you offer?

Restaurant for post-wedding  brunch

Rooftop Bar for after-hours celebrations to continue

Bridal Suites

How can people get in contact with you?

Our sales and events team is available at 212-508-8000.  More information on our venue can be found at www.50bowery.com and we can be reached via email at 50bowerysales@jdvhotels.com
