For this profile I spoke to Levon Arzumanian, designer at Armans Fine Jewellery in Sydney.

Tell us about your company. How long have you been in business?

Armans Fine Jewellery has been established since 1986 in the heart of Sydney. Armans Fine Jewellery is literally a diamond in the rough.

We are the only Jeweller that create your jewellery handmade rather than machine made. See jewellery is a fine art that a machine cannot understand when passion and creation become one. At Armans, our team of master jewellers are guided under the watchful eye of Arman Arzumanian and his son Levon. From the tender age of 12, Arman Arzumanian’s future was set in stone – or rather, setting stones was to be his future as this was the age he took up the trade. Throughout Europe, Arman’s entire family were involved in the jewellery business, so his passion is a result of both nature and nurture. With such a start to the profession, it is little wonder he became the name he is today, with a universal reputation as a highly skilled setter. Arman was able to establish his own business in Sydney in 1986 and is highly regarded by his peers within the industry. It was a natural progression that Arman should open his own showroom so that he could engage directly with his clients.

What do couples need to know about ordering rings for their wedding?

When looking for wedding rings couples need to ask themselves firstly what colour of metal they are after. There is platinum, white gold , rose gold and yellow gold! So determine this firstly before making your decision. Now we look at the styles, with the brides we look at what will compliment your engagement ring best. Nine times out of ten future brides will choose a matching diamond band but the one out ten will choose something completely different to their engagement ring band. Usually because they like to where it on the other hand time and time again or they just like the contrast between the two ! As for the future grooms its best to see which styles suit your hand the best !

How early do couples need to begin the process?

Couples should start looking several months prior to the wedding as it will take anywhere form 3-4 weeks to make up but you want to be prepared so everything goes smoothly on the big day !

What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you?
