Tell us about your venue.
Welcome to Ascot House, built in 1860 as the summer residence of John Thomas Smith, lord mayor of Melbourne. Ascot House sits on two acres of lush gardens, we have been hosting weddings since 1912 and host approximately 150 weddings a year

Our reputation for our excellent food and service. We have been finalist in the wedding caterer of the year awards for the past five years in a row

Can I hire my own chairs for my wedding reception?
You are welcome to hire a different style of chair from an external hire company for your reception, please feel to speak with us for our recommended suppliers. Ascot House provides you with chairs, and your choice of chair cover and sash for your wedding reception included in your price per person.
What size functions can you hold/host?
We can accommodate events from 80-200 in our Grand Ballroom, and smaller events of 40-80 in our Chandelier Room.
Can couples bring in their own caterer? What about alcohol?
You are welcome to organise external catering for your event. You also have the option of organising your own spirits for your event, a small fee applies.
Can the ceremony be held at your venue?
Our rotunda and gardens are an ideal location for your wedding ceremony, plenty of opportunities for photos in our gardens and we provide a back-up option in case of rain.
Are the couple free to decorate as they like?
We do provide candelabras for all guest tables however you are welcome to arrange your own decorations for your tables. We also have some excellent recommendations for flowers, tiffany chairs and table linen.
If your venue is outdoors is there a backup space in case of rain?
We provide an undercover option in case of rain for your ceremony. Both our event rooms are indoors so your guests will stay comfortable and dry.
Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?
Our prices vary depending on the day, time of year and which room you choose to hire. Prices range from $105 for a lunch event to $155 for Saturday dinner.
How early do couples need to book you?
Please feel free to contact us at your convenience regarding availability. Some clients book 12-18 months in advance while others book 6-9 months in advance during quieter seasons.
What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?
Events need to conclude by 12am, after which your guests have a half-hour grace period to finish their drinks and depart the venue.
Do you offer accommodation options?
We don't have any accommodation onsite however we recommend some excellent accommodation within a 5-minute drive or within walking distance to public transport.
What other (if any) wedding services do you offer?
All of our centrepieces, chair covers and sashes are all included, we offer complimentary cake cutting and our package prices are all-inclusive. We also offer a complimentary wedding consultation with our industry expert to provide you with excellent supplier recommendations at reduced prices.
