Without doubt Italian food would be my last meal and if you agree then one of Sydney's best Italian restaurants makes an obvious choice for a wedding.

La Rosa The Strand is a Roman osteria and wine bar, operated by leading Sydney restaurateur, Nino Zoccali. Sister to The Restaurant Pendolino, La Rosa The Strand is located within the heritage listed Strand Arcade, the last remaining Victorian Arcade in Sydney. Today, the Strand Arcade represents a majestic reprieve from the hustle and bustle of Sydney's CBD.

With its opulent palette and luxurious detailing, La Rosa The Strand is The Strand Arcade's premier venue for wedding celebrations, and has been welcoming couples to celebrate their reception in its dining room and/or Wine Bar for three years now. La Rosa’s convenient city-centre location overlooks the Pitt Street Mall’s heritage skyline on one side, and the Arcade’s grand multi-tiered interior on the other. With a clever design that includes a terrace, wine bar, dining room and discreet sliding walls, La Rosa The Strand can transform into a space that’s the perfect size for a wedding party of up to 120 guests.

Why should a couple consider your venue over other venues?

The Strand Arcade is one of the most stunning buildings in Sydney’s CBD, with a glass roof, richly tiled floor and three floors of premium, sophisticated Australian fashion retailers, linked by central bridges. It makes an elegant, unique backdrop for wedding photography, with ample natural light. While conveniently located in the heart of the CBD, La Rosa The Strand is an intimate and refined wedding venue, protected from the elements and thus the perfect option for weddings 12 months of the year.

In 2017 La Rosa was named Australia’s Best Informal Italian Restaurant at the Restaurant & Catering Association’s annual Awards for Excellence, so engaged couples need not worry about the quality of the menu on their big day. With a strong focus on boutique, artisanal products, La Rosa’s Roman-inspired menu is highly regarded and includes a range of pastas, made fresh each day in La Rosa’s dedicated pasta kitchen. Wines are also hand-selected in Italy each year by chef proprietor Nino Zoccali and group sommelier, Cristian Casarin. Some of the wines available at La Rosa cannot be found anywhere else in Australia, so if you’re after a food and wine experience that your wedding guests wont forget, La Rosa The Strand will not disappoint.

What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you?

Considering La Rosa’s reputation as being one of Sydney’s best Italian restaurants, couples are always excited to hear about the wonderful food and beverage menus we can compile for their special day. We make it as flexible and easy to navigate as possible, with a choice of Sharing Menus and Set Menus as well as Beverages on Consumption and Beverage Packages.

Couples are also eager to get information on the room’s design and table layouts, and we’re always glad to inform them that La Rosa is very flexible and can set the dining room up with small tables of 8 to 10 guests, or longer tables of up to 20.

What size functions can you hold/host?

In its entirety, the restaurant can host groups of 120 (seated) without a dance floor, or 100 with a dance floor. The restaurant has an incredibly flexible design, however, with sliding walls that block off one section of the restaurant from another, meaning bespoke, intimate areas can be created for smaller groups.

Can the ceremony be held at your venue?

No, but there is an absolutely gorgeous space just above us on Level 4 of The Strand Arcade called the Courtesy of the Artist Loft, which sets the most stunning scene for wedding ceremonies. With high ceilings, white walls and plenty of natural light, the space is perfect for couples who would like some creative control over the look and feel of their wedding ceremony.

Are the couple free to decorate as they like?

Yes, couples are welcome to decorate as they like at La Rosa, however the Strand Arcade is heritage listed, so candles need to be in a vessel.

If your venue is outdoors is there a backup space in case of rain?

La Rosa The Strand is an indoor venue.

Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?

Prices start from $12,400

How early do couples need to book you?

This depends on availability, however a minimum period of 4-6 months is recommended.

What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?

We are licensed until 1am

Do you offer accommodation options?

We don’t have accommodation options, however our central CBD location means there are a plethora of premium hotels just around the corner!

What other (if any) wedding services do you offer?

La Rosa is housed within the Strand Arcade, which is a one-stop shop for brides- and grooms-to-be. Couples can not only organise an unforgettable ceremony and/or reception at one of the city’s leading Italian diners, they can also have choose their wedding rings, have their tux fitted and dress designed – all by premium Australian fashion retailers.
