Tell us about your venue. How long have you been holding weddings and how many weddings do you hold per year?
The C.V. Rich Mansion is a nationally registered historic venue conveniently located in White Plains N.Y. It is a stunning location that includes 5 distinctive rooms in addition to the Grand Ballroom. We have hosted weddings here for over the past 25 years, approximately 150 per year.
Why should a couple consider your venue over other venues?
The C.V. Rich Mansion is an extremely unique location in both the charm and convenience it has. Once you step into the home, you are immediately immersed into an era full of gilded architecture and interior details that set it apart from other venue locations yet still close to both Metro and Hudson Valley New York. Our favorite part of hosting a wedding here is how special the indoor/outdoor cocktail hour is with an outside patio and several different rooms to explore, guests are engaged before they even step into the ballroom for the dinner reception. Most importantly, we only host one wedding at a time so there is never an overlap with other parties. It is completely our clients’ special day for them and their family.
What’s the first thing couples usually ask when they come and see you?
One of the first questions is about a particular date, some are more flexible than others and having the date available could, at times, determine if a bride and groom wish to even further discuss a venue. Another important question if they are doing the ceremony on site is about a rain plan, which we are fully able to accommodate. Other questions really depend on what is most important to each couple and their family, some may have a heavy focus on décor while others may really place the importance on the food and wish to know more about our catering options.
What size functions can you hold/host?
We have hosted functions as small as 30 guests just in the main house location, to as large as 250 guests in the entire mansion.
Can couples bring in their own caterer? What about alcohol?
The only outside caterers we work with are Glatt Kosher, otherwise we have our in house catering company Caperberry Events handle the catering for every event. This includes the alcohol portion of the event as well.
Can the ceremony be held at your venue?
We love having the ceremony on site and do so very often as we offer two locations for ceremonies depending on what our couples like most. One has more trees than the other for a more rustic setting, and the other is more of a traditional outside open natural space. Both ceremony sites take place on the grounds in our manicured outside garden area, boasting flowers for every season.
Are the couple free to decorate as they like?
Couples are able to decorate to their hearts content! We love how the ballroom is a cream based color palette which allows for several different looks to happen whether it is rustic, country, natural elegance, or even a modern design, we have seen many styles through the years. Event planners and designers also love the clean slate they can work with as well. We offer free up-lighting which can really bring the look all together and make the room pop.
If your venue is outdoors is there a backup space in case of rain?
We have a backup plan for every ceremony which includes having it be held in either the ballroom or sunroom depending on the amount of guests and logistics of that particular event. We have been told in the past that after rain planned inside ceremonies, they loved the look more than their original outside plans!
Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?
Prices range greatly depending on the season, the day, the menu, and the spaces used in the mansion. We offer specials throughout the year and it is always best to speak to our event planner in finding out the best pricing structure for an event.
How early do couples need to book you?
Our weekends fill up quite fast and typically bride and grooms reach out at minimum one year prior to their event date. As always, each couple is different and we receive inquiries as far out as 2 years, to as close as a few months. If someone has their heart set on a special date it is always best to book as soon as they know they have found “the one” in terms of venue.
What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?
We host events until midnight latest. If couples are interested in continuing the party they can visit one of the many bars in downtown White Plains which are also close to all of the local hotels.
Do you offer accommodation options?
We do not have accommodations but located very close to several major and boutique hotels in the downtown area.
What other (if any) wedding services do you offer?
We work with several different vendors from planners, to photographers, to DJ’s, we can help connect our clients with any information that they should desire.
