Guide on How to Write Exceptional Wedding Invitations

Weddings are an amazing thing. But, there are burdensome on those who plan them, to say the least. There are simply too many things to take care of. You need to find the venue, organize the caterers, buy the outfit, find a band and a photographer, and whatnot. But, none of these will be worth a thing unless you have the thing that makes the wedding – the guests. This brings yet another burden, and a rather challenging one – the wedding invitations. Most couples want to make a good impression when they invite their friends and family to one of the most important days of their lives. The invitations writing process requires a great deal of thought and interesting writing style, which leaves you with a big question – where to begin.

Thankfully, I’ve prepared more than just a single wedding invitations advice for you. I’ve made a guide of all the things you need to know to write a wedding invitation that will impress.

How to Write the Wedding Invitations

There are plenty of things to take care of when you write the invitations. This guide will show you through the process step by step. But first, you need to know the standard pieces of every wedding invitation. These, of course, include the following:

  • Bride and groom’s names and titles

  • Marriage venue location

  • Reception location

  • RSVP address

  • Date and time for the reception and the wedding

Now, you already know these, but you definitely need to spread them around the invitation. That’s the hard part. Here is what you can do.

Step 1: Begin with an introduction

It’s best if you look at the wedding invitation as an academic project. After all, it also requires an introduction. To be fair, many people nowadays choose to eliminate this task from their to-do list and ask online custom writing services to help them with the content, same as they did back in school when they needed to write a paper. That’s a nice idea, but if you want to write the invitation on your own, you should always begin with an introduction. It is tradition that wedding invitation start with an introduction from the hosts. But, you shouldn’t be afraid to stray from traditions. After all, unique is usually the most interesting in wedding invitations. If you do choose to go for the traditional, write the parent’s names or the families surnames, perhaps followed by something of the sort: Families cordially invite you to attend.

Step 2: Introduce the bride and the groom

Without a doubt, this is the biggest and most crucial part of the wedding invitation – the bride and groom’s mention. That’s why you must leave quite some space for this. You wouldn’t want to put the most important thing in some corner, with illegible font. Your goal is to make this part as decorative as possible for it to stand out. After all, it’s these people’s special day.

Step 3: Request attendance

Most invitations include a statement of the sort: we request the honour of your presence to inform the guests that they are inviting them to something. This is, once again, very traditional, and many people choose to go a different way. In fact, this is the part that can most reflect the couple’s personality. Take a look at some funny and unique invitations online to get an inspiration.

Step 4: Include the basic information

The chances of people reading a lengthy wedding invitation are slim to none. Most often, they skim through the content to find the basic event information. This is the part where you make sure to insert them all, without forgetting anything. It’s amazing how many people have forgotten something as important as the venue or the time because they focused too much on the remaining of the content. Include the time and date, maybe even the year if it is not obvious. You’ll also need the location of the event, as well as the address, or maybe the city and state if you have guests from other locations.

Step 5: Polish the details

Now, go through the entire invitation to see if you’ve made mistakes. A minor spelling mistake in a wedding invitation can cause big problems. Imagine if you’ve misspelled the venue and people show up in a different place! Or, even worse, imagine if you’ve misspelled the names of your spouse’s parents – they’ll be furious.

Step 6: Don’t forget about the RSVP

Finally, include an RSVP form that guests will send back to you. That’s it! An invitation needs to include all this, though writing it often takes quite a lot of time and effort. Don’t be afraid to show your personality and use creativity in invitations – the sky is your limit.
