Melbourne Wedding Blog: Wedding Venues

The European is one of my favourite restaurants in Melbourne and the owner has expanded the offering to include popular rooftop bar Siglo, Tea Room, The Supper Club, Recoleta and French Saloon. All of these venues come under the banner of 'Spring Street Events'. For this profile I spoke to Sara Dean, Events Manager.

Tell us about your venue. How long have you been holding weddings and how many weddings do you hold per year?

We host approximately 100 weddings per year and we have been hosting weddings for 9 years.

Why should a couple consider your venue over other venues?

Set in a spectacular, central location, with iconic views and spaces. We offer a uniquely ‘Melbourne’ experience with multiple locations to choose from offering award winning food and beverage.

What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you?

Can they have a wedding at night time? Yes – we can accommodate an evening event in the Tea Room, Recoleta or on weekends at French Saloon.  Siglo and The Melbourne Supper Club are not available for evening events as they open to the public each day at 5pm.

What size functions can you hold/host?

Tea Room: 56 seated/80 cocktail
The Melbourne Supper Club: 30 seated/90 cocktail
Siglo: 80 seated/150 cocktail
Recoleta: 40 seated/80 cocktail
French Saloon: 60 seated/100 cocktail

Can the ceremony be held at your venue?

Absolutely. We offer ceremony only and ceremony and reception packages.

Are the couple free to decorate as they like?

Clients are welcome to arrange for external styling at the discretion of management.  We also offer access to our in-house florist.

If your venue is outdoors is there a backup space in case of rain?

Siglo is our only outside space and has a retractable roof.  We have marquees available for hire in this space also.  Recoleta and French Saloon both feature an exclusive balcony space with a retractable awning.

Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?

Ceremony and reception minimum spends are outlined in our packages, available by contacting us.

How early do couples need to book you?

This depends on the time of year and day of week that they wish to book.  We would recommend securing a preferred date as soon as possible as we do not hold tentative reservations without a deposit.

What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?

Lunch time weddings are available until 4pm and evening events run from 6pm – 12pm.

What other (if any) wedding services do you offer?

What is included in hosting your wedding with us:

• Exclusive use of your desired venue space

• Cake table and cake cutting knife

• Gift table

• Tea light candles and holders (evening only)

• Hand towels, organic hand soap and moisturiser

• Linen table cloths, napkins
