I created this blog to really help Adelaide brides who are planning their wedding. I've been been a professional photographer for 15 years. Based in Adelaide and Paris, my work has appeared in Harpers Bazaar UK, the New York Times, Style Me Pretty and brides.com. In 2015 Style Me Pretty interviewed me, in 2016 Complete Wedding Magazine called me "One of the World's Best Wedding Photographers".

Profile: Wyld Orchids

For this profile I spoke to Lee Bouras, founder of Wyld Orchids, a wedding and event florist based in Semaphore, Adelaide.

Tell us about yourself and your company. How many years have you been a florist?

My name is Lee from Wyld Orchids, I’m based in the Semaphore area of Adelaide. I have been a specialist Wedding and Event floral designer for 11 years. I work from my home based studio where I have a big beautiful space to be creative in. I love my Wedding flower business it is my passion and big love.

Before becoming a Wedding florist I spent a lot of time with my Art designing drums making batiks I have always been artistic. I fell in love with floristry and floral art when I was planning my own wedding.

I have been obsessed with weddings flowers and floral art ever since. I design weddings every weekend during weddings season and during the winter months when it is quiet I do my floral art shoots which I exhibit my work in SALA etc

What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you?

Many couples are unsure about the cost of flowers so often that is one of the first questions. Once this is shared then couples can work with me with their budget and style. I have fantastic online pricing documents that I share with my couples so they can plan their wedding easily.

What do couples need to know about ordering flowers for their wedding?

This is the fun part looking at flower images working out your styles and love of colour and textures. Flowers bring a wedding altogether it creates atmosphere and sets the scene of your wedding. Your flowers are in most of your photos so I want them to be perfect and reflect the couples personality and style.

Do couples need to book you early in their planning?

I often book out a year or two in advance especially on prime Wedding season dates. Wedding flowers is all I do.

Can you share with us what a typical wedding looks like for you?

I watch someone get married every weekend. It is such a honour to be chosen to be the couples Wedding florist. Designing the bouquets buttonholes Reception flowers and Ceremony flowers. I see my flower set ups and am involved and oversee the whole process to ensure everything is perfect.

How do you like to work with clients?

I often work with my clients online sharing style boards pricing documents and flower image ideas. I lot of this can be worked on before we meet up for a creative flower chat.

Could you give our readers some indication of costs involved in ordering wedding flowers from you?

My pricing list is updated regularly can be shared easily via email to my couples. A wedding for me can be a simple bouquet to a massive install wedding with a team of florists working. I can cater for all budgets styles and designs.

Do you offer any other services helpful for brides?

I offer styling and planning advice in my creative flower chats when booked in. I recommend great suppliers to couples and offer ideas and solutions to their Wedding planning.

This has just been part of my everyday free service when couple book in. I have a great hire collection flower wall, arbours, gold stands, vintage doors and hanging rings and floral heart.

I also have a massive collection of vases that are included with free hire with all my floral designs.
