For this profile I spoke to Kellee Pham, founder of Kellee Flowers, a wedding and event florist based in East Melbourne, Victoria.

Tell us about yourself and your company. How many years have you been a florist?

I graduated from Swineburne University with a Biological Science Degree in Biochemistry/Botany. After 3 years of hospital laboratory work, I completed a short floristry course at BoxHill Tafe. I quit my job , bought my business and the fun started! I realised my true obsession with flowers and as a bonus- I get paid to live out my dream!

I have been a florist for over 20 years and every wedding bouquet is still so special to me even after so many thousands of wedding bouquets made over the decades.

My strongest attribute would be my attention to details . My high standards leaves no room for anything but perfection for my client. I am only ever at ease when my wedding client has expressed her joy when she receives her dream wedding bouquets and sees all the reception flowers setup beautifully.

What’s the first thing brides usually ask when they come and see you? (And can you answer those questions here)

Many Brides ask how much do wedding flowers cost? I try and understand the important elements and styling of the wedding flowers. Once I am clear with the bride's brief, I can easily quote any wedding flowers required.

What do couples need to know about ordering flowers for their wedding?

Couples did to know that if they are too specific and demand a certain shade of colour or flower type or a style, the price of the flower quote maybe higher so to allow for customized flower design. I also offer couples on a budget the choice of using fresh and abundantly available seasonal flowers which is more cost effective.

Do couples need to book you early in their planning?

Couples should secure an experienced and capable florist early. By allocating the flower task to a professional florist , the couple can rest assured that the flowers are taken care.

Can you share with us what a typical wedding looks like for you?

A typical wedding package can consist of 4-6 bridal bouquets, 10 lapels, ceremony church altar flowers and reception guest / bridal table flowers.

How do you like to work with clients?

I like clients to firstly do their own research and show me what it is they wish for me to create for them. So lots of email images will help to understand the styling and the brief. I like having clients in my shop and making them feel at ease while I show them our display of possible flowers and colours to use and any props like vases they may require.

Could you give our readers some indication of costs involved in ordering wedding flowers from you?

A wedding flowers package of seasonal flowers like the attached image of pink and white flowers Bridal bouquet 3 bridemaid bouquets and 4 lapels approximately $550.

A more specific and tailored wedding flowers package could cost $750+
