Tell us about your venue. How long have you been holding weddings and how many weddings do you hold per year?

The George on Collins is Melbourne’s newest New York style basement bar, located in one of Melbourne’s most iconic buildings in the heart of the CBD. We are a venue chameleon able to adapt to any requirements whether it’s a corporate, casual or party experience. Our thoughtfully selected menu of shared plates (small and large) compliment this and can cater to any dining experience, whether it is lunch on the run or taking your time for a sit down dinner. We compliment these offerings with our tailored late night entertainment, live piano playing Thursday - Saturday evenings as well as DJs playing on Friday and Saturday nights. live piano Wednesday and Thursdays as well as a DJ on Friday and Saturday nights. We pride ourselves in providing quality customer service and flexibility to all bookings and events to provide for an amazing experience from start to finish. The George on Collins is a destination you can be proud to show off to your clients and guests through our premium offerings.

Our venue is an ideal space for casual wedding receptions, we have a delicious food offering which is perfect for exclusive cocktail style parties.

Why should a couple consider your venue over other venues?

Our prices are competitive as we will not charge a room hire fee in addition to food and beverage. This will be all inclusive. Our offerings are modern (ie. tapas and grazing boards, as well as our premium beverage offering). Newly renovated space designed by Hecker Guthrie architects, one of Melbournes's finest venues. We have a number of entertainment options ie live music (piano) and dj booth. We also have a number of function spaces and alcoves that can be quite easily transformed (lounges, sit down tables, bar tables).

What size functions can you hold/host?

450 persons standing. Seated roughly 200.

If relevant, can couples bring in their own caterer? What about alcohol?

Catering will be done onsite. Cakes can be made onsite (we have a pastry chef) and offsite (cake-age applies). Alcohol also to be provided on site (corkage applies if they want to supply their own).

Can the ceremony be held at your venue?

No, we are just a reception venue.

Are the couple free to decorate as they like?

Yes, to the discretion of the management team.

Could you give our readers some indication of the range of prices for hiring your venue?

Full venue hire changes according to the demand and day. It's best to contact us to determine this.

How early do couples need to book you?

Ample time needs to be provided. I would suggest minimum 1 month prior to booking date for full venue hires. For smaller function space bookings minimum would be 2 weeks prior to event date.

What time at night can weddings stay at your venue?

We have a license until 3am weekdays and weekends.

Do you offer accommodation options?

We can refer our guests to local businesses/hotel chains, however we do not offer onsite accommodation.
